National Caregivers Month: Caring for those who care for others
Highlander Senior Residence offers a caring environment

Nov. 14, 2003

Growing old has many concerns and the staff members at the Highlander Senior Residence are well aware of this factor. They strive to form a well-rounded support network by providing assistance when needed to foster a caring and professional setting that protects the dignity of each resident at all times.

At the Highlander Senior Residence, there are a number of services provided that not only enrich each resident but also enable the residents as well. Basic services provided to all residents include three daily nutritious meals served in a friendly dining room; full-service housekeeping provided weekly and as needed; laundry service for each resident as needed, including weekly changing of linens; social and recreational activities coordinated by a qualified activity director; and general monitoring of each resident's health on a regular basis. Daily menus are developed for nutritional content and residents may select their own choice of entrée. Snacks and beverages are available between meals and in the evening.

Each resident's needs are assessed upon acceptance into the facility and reviewed at least every six months and more often if changes in the resident's physical or mental condition are observed. Families and friends are encouraged to participate in the lives of their loved ones.

"The Highlander Senior Residence has a program and services tailored to meet the needs of each resident," said Cherri Arca, marketing director. "We utilize the latest in knowledge and techniques to care for and assist your loved ones. There are five levels of assisted with special programs also available for residents with Alzheimer's and/or dementia care. At our facility, we have a dedicated wing for these residents where they are cared for 24 hours a day with a specially trained and experienced staff. Above all, we try to increase their independence and quality of life!"

"Our goal is to make each day a beautiful and meaningful experience," Arca continued. "Come and visit our newly built facility for a tour and complimentary lunch."
