Legacy Bank provides higher standards of banking services

In a little over one year since Legacy Bank opened for business in La Jolla, the locally owned and operated bank has proven to be a successful and viable alternative to "mega banks" for individuals and businesses seeking prompt and personalized service.

There has never been a better time for community banks to service their customers. The general consolidation that is taking place in the banking industry has increased customer demand for higher standards of banking services. With the advent of Internet banking and other technological advancements, even community banks can provide these higher standards. As a result, seasoned financial industry professionals are being drawn to career opportunities provided by well-run community banks like Legacy.

"When we were preparing to open, we knew that it was imperative to bring together a team of bankers with a broad range of financial experience in the local community," said Chris McKellar, organizer, director and chairperson of Legacy Bank. "In the past year, we have been fortunate to retain a team of 'home grown' bankers who know and understand this area. They excel at serving the best interests of every individual, and our loyal and growing customer base is a testament to this fact."

Since entering the marketplace, Legacy Bank has made multiple staff appointments, including the addition of Chief Credit Officer Tom Carter, and Real Estate Lending Officer Jennifer Laurie, who together have been instrumental in building the bank's strong real estate niche.

In August, Legacy Bank appointed Catherine S. Nicholas to its Board of Directors. As lead portfolio manager of global equities for Nicholas-Applegate Capital Management, Nicholas brought strong investment management expertise to the boardroom table. In addition to Nicholas, the Legacy Board is comprised of individuals with strong historic ties to community banking, and includes Christopher Scripps McKellar, chairman, Martin C. Dickinson, vice chairman, Craig Andrews, Vincent Benstead, John Davies and Jim McKellar.

Legacy Bank is a locally owned and managed community bank providing a full range of banking services to individuals and businesses. Located at 1020 Prospect St. in downtown La Jolla, Legacy is active in community service and is committed to providing a unique, personalized, consultative approach to banking.
