Spotlight on a real estate leader: Jim Abbott

Jim Abbott is a fourth generation San Diegan who has been representing buyers and sellers of residential homes for nearly two decades. He maintains a firm grasp on market trends and the burgeoning San Diego metropolitan area.

Abbott has received numerous performance and recognition awards for his work, and has been ranked in the top 1 percent of all Prudential Real Estate agents nationwide for the last two years. He has sold hundreds of homes and has numerous clients who have purchased or sold multiple homes through him.

A member of San Diego Association of Realtors and the California Association of Realtors, Abbott's reputation for the highest ethical standards, commitment to client goals, trend-setting marketing and aggressive negotiating skills are the hallmarks of his real estate career.

As part of the Prudential team, Abbott and his associates pride themselves on being ahead of the curve - from being a part of the first local company to fully embrace Internet presentations of listings, to value range marketing, which gives home buyers and sellers a range of prices from which to start negotiations.

Abbott began his real estate career after receiving encouragement from Bill Opie, a legendary local agent, who became Abbott's mentor and eventually his business partner.

Abbott started in the Poway/Rancho Bernardo area, but found his niche in downtown San Diego when Prudential's management suggested he consider moving to the mushrooming area.

Outside of real estate, Abbott advocates for causes close to his heart, and has served on a number of boards and committees, including the San Diego Performing Arts League, the Downtown San Diego Partnership and the Downtown Residential Marketing Group, which he co-founded. He also served as the Rancho Bernardo town council president, where he was one of the founders of a nonprofit corporation that led to the building of a new library. It is now one of the busiest branches in San Diego, responsible for circulating several thousand books.
