Related Special Reports

The San Diego Center for International Trade Development at Southwestern College (CITD) signed a strategic alliance memorandum with the Mexican Business Council of Foreign Trade, Investment, and Technology (known as COMCE) and the Tijuana Economic Development Corp. (known as DEITAC) during the Tijuana Innovadora 2012 conference.

The strategic alliance between the CITD and COMCE, which will receive operational support from DEITAC, will help facilitate assistance to small businesses that are interested in expanding through cross-border trade. Another goal of the collaboration will be to develop a web-based platform to help small and medium-sized businesses establish supply chains in the San Diego/Tijuana region.

The MOU was signed during a ceremony that was part of the Tijuana Innovadora activities by Southwestern Community College District Superintendent/President, Dr. Melinda Nish, District Governing Board President, Norma Hernandez, COMCE President, Jose Antonio Gonzalez, and DEITAC President, David Mayagoitia. The signing ceremony also included the participation of CITD Director, Victor Castillo, Dean of Southwestern College's Higher Education Center at Otay Mesa, Silvia Cornejo, DEITAC Executive Director, Flavio Olivieri, and San Diego SBA District Director, Ruben Garcia, among other leaders from both sides of the border.
