TechNiche International started out serving the industrial safety sector, but its climate-control products such as cooling vests, cooling headwear, hands-free water packs and various warming apparel are starting to be increasingly in demand at the consumer level, too.

Plasma is the single largest component of human blood, and it's the essential starting point for a range of medicines. As such, its collection and subsequent change into new life-saving materials is an integral piece of the biomedical field -- and San Marcos-based Access Biologicals LLC plays its own important role.   

There are two things on the walls of SeaSpace's Poway offices: framed satellite images and maps of the world. Nearly every office and hallway has some of each, and it's a telling symbol of both what the company does, and what it wants to do.   

When the city of Escondido proposed the North County Fair mall would be located in the elbow of Highway 78 and Interstate 15, local businesses said “no.”   

The San Diego Chargers need 50 to 60 acres of land to build a new stadium and the organization could do it in Escondido by buying five privately owned properties located in a redevelopment zone.   

Developer Jay Paul Company announced that construction of a new Class A office tower at Summit Rancho Bernardo has been completed at 16620 West Bernardo Drive. The five-story, 196,742 square foot office building is designed to earn LEED Core and Shell Gold certification. The designer was DES Architects, with Rudolph and Sletten serving as general contractor.   

Sony (NYSE: SNE) senior vice president and deputy general counsel Chris Ekren has joined the North Chamber of Commerce's board of directors.   

The San Diego Chargers might be headed to Escondido for the first time since 1968, if the team can find the financing.   

The new Vista Community Clinic recently celebrated its grand opening and will be able to help more people in the North County.   

The city of Carlsbad is experiencing a restaurant boom that will bring new eateries for just about every taste, budget and dining style. More than two-dozen eateries spread throughout all corners of the city are either opening or in the works, with choices ranging from Mediterranean cuisine to nationally renowned burgers, enormous fluffy omelets and margaritas the size of a birdbath.   

The North County office and industrial market has a whole lot of empties. But with no industrial construction, absorption is improving.
   

North County has fared better than the rest of San Diego when it comes to the sales of both new and resold homes.   

Del Norte High School, a new high school in the Poway Unified School District, opened its doors Aug. 20.
