La Jolla Pharmaceutical Co. (Nasdaq: LJPC) has set a date for its stockholders to vote on whether to liquidate the practically defunct biotech.   

Local intellectual property attorneys are applauding last week's decision by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office to rescind its proposed rules changes.

The U.S. Navy has awarded Vical Inc. (Nasdaq: VICL) a contract for $1.25 million to support a Phase 1 clinical trial of the company's vaccine for H1N1 influenza, more commonly known as swine flu.
