San Diego based McKinney Advisory Group hosted a charity mixer for San Diego business leaders on Nov. 28 at the Grand Del Mar Resort. Four local charities were highlighted and each guest was presented with a $100 voucher as McKinney Advisory's contribution to their favorite featured charity. 
Those who help San Diego businesses decide where to put their philanthropic efforts have seen a shift in recent years. Local companies aren’t just dispensing dollars based on who walks through the door seeking a donation; rather, company executives are compelled to find the biggest bang for their charitable bucks. 
The Rockaway Beach and Breezy Point area of New York, home of James Brennan, CEO of Enlightened Hospitality Group, suffered massive damage from Hurricane Sandy. The storm carved out a path of disaster in Rockaway Beach, with fires and floods damaging homes and businesses in several sections. In Breezy Point alone, more than 111 homes were destroyed. 
The large task of feeding San Diego’s hungry can’t necessarily be done one donated can of food at a time. Feeding America San Diego, which is San Diego’s largest distributor of food to those in need, has cultivated a range of programs, partnerships and events with local companies to meet the persistent demands of hunger in the region.
