City council candidates present their vision for San Diego

The San Diego chapter of the American Institute of Architects hosted a City Council candidate forum on Aug. 10 at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park. The four candidates vying for the remaining two city council seats -- Howard Wayne and Lorie Zapf for District 6, and David Alvarez and Felipe Hueso for District 8 -- each presented a case for why they should be elected to fill the vacated seats of termed-out City Council representatives Donna Frye and Ben Hueso. Of specific focus for the architect-hosted forum was the future of the region. Candidate Zapf made the observation, “How nice it is to be discussing the future and the potential of San Diego, instead of merely talking about immediate concerns that are directly in front of us.”
