Since 1977, Front Porch Home Care has had one aim: to help people stay where they are happiest, at home. We create customized care plans for each individual based on their wants and needs. Some people use Home Care services every day while others use them just once a week. We tailor all services to meet each client's personal needs and schedule.

"Our work is all about establishing a comfortable rapport," said Lynda McMahan, area director for Front Porch Home Care. "Our supervisors visit each client to learn about the little things that make a big difference to that person." The supervisor then finds the caregiver that best meets that person's needs, and continues to work with them throughout the client's service.

Front Porch Home Care provides services ranging from personal care (assistance with bathing and dressing) to companionship, light housekeeping and meal preparation. Services may be for a few hours or around the clock. We also have caregivers specially trained to provide personal care to individuals with memory loss, dementia and Alzheimer's.

"She does everything. She drives me and bathes me and cooks for me. But more importantly, she's a nice, friendly person to have around."

Mrs. "L" is talking about Jeanne, who provides Mrs. "L" with care and comfort eight hours a day, five days a week. Mrs. "L" began using Front Porch Home Care when she moved into her spacious downtown apartment 10 years ago. Jeanne has been her caregiver for the past five years.

"I like working with the same person," Jeanne says. "You really get to know each other . . . their needs, their likes . . . it's more consistent for the caregiver and the client."

Mrs. "L", who worked for many years in personnel for a local bank, came to the United States from England when she was three, and has lived in New Jersey, Ohio and California. "I like California the best," she says. "I'm very satisfied here. Jeanne makes me happy."
